Can a Volvo be Art? : New Volvo new car 2009
Can a Volvo be Art?
by Mark Creese
Andy Warhol once said that art is "what you can get away with". Art is one of the areas of our culture that divides opinion more than anything else and finds its way into more and more of our buildings and products. One man's love of the Gherkin building in London is polarised with those who feel it is a blot on the skyline. Increasingly the car world is producing cars that appear to be a direct copy of a child's scribble in their school book. One company you cannot level this accusation at is Volvo.
The Swedish firm have always put substance over style and produce bricks on wheels that are super safe, super reliable and super practical. Even the 'hot' performance version of their estate - the T5 looked virtually identical to the base model, it just happens to be so fast and usable the police in Britain all use them. It's ever so boring to look at though. In fact I'd rather have the police version - at least all the high visibility stickers and chequered side panels give it a bit more flair. The blue lights would get me to work far quicker too I'm sure.
Imagine my surprise this week then when the brochure for the new Volvo C30 was waiting for me when I got home. Let's just say the bruise on my head from when I fainted is healing well, thanks for the concern. You see, all I said above has seemingly been rendered irrelevant. Art for the road and for the masses is here, and it's a Volvo. The realisation that the world wasn't flat I'm guessing was a bit of a shock, but it couldn't have been too dissimilar to the first time I opened the Volvo brochure.
Volvo have played safe with the front end of the C30, giving it the usual executive look of the Swedish manufacturer and then gone bonkers with the rest of it. Describing the C30 is like attempting to describe a Monet painting, but I'll try my best. It looks a bit hazy with long, broad brush stokes and can only really be appreciated from a distance as up-close shows the flaws in the work. The Monet isn't bad either.
Seriously though, the C30 is brilliant to look at. The rear end is the perfect ying to the front end's yang. The lights start where you'd expect them to, halfway up and on the curvaceous bulge that grows as it travels from the bonnet to the back end. The lights then go on an upward journey that goes all the way to the roofline. A spoiler joins the two sets of lights and will probably add down force if you ask Volvo. For me it just adds the touch of perfection on an already stunning view of the car. Forget Kylie Minogue and J-Lo, the C30 has the best rear end I've ever seen.
The Volvo C30 sits comfortably in two markets thanks to its styling. It's a coupe one minute and a funky hatchback the next. The danger with any car that attempts to be two things at once is that it fails to do a good enough job with either. Thankfully the C30 is happy to oblige to whichever need you're after. Volvo being Volvo, they offer so many engine and trim options that you can transform the C30 into a snarling tarmac eating Coupe or economical family hatchback with a tick or two on the options list.
Obviously one look at the C30 screams 'practicality not considered' which is partially true. Other competitors in its class offer more rear legroom and boot space but bland styling so it's the compromise you'll have to make one way or the other. The C30 drives very well and has a similar chassis to that of the Ford Focus which by all accounts is sublime. Volvo's engineers have stiffened the suspension and given the car a wider track than the Ford which is truly rewarded in the corners, with the car maintaining a mature feel throughout.
Artwork doesn't appear to be affected by the global financial crisis, with Damian Hirst selling some of his work for £111 million in two days. The Volvo C30 starts at £14, 750 rising to £22,995 for the top-of-the-range model. Whichever variant you chose, rest assured you'll be noticed on the road and have far more life in your purchase than Hirst's shark in a tank.
I am seriously considering the C30 as my next car. Now all I need to do is find a wall big enough to hang it on.

Drive Car Using Water : New Volvo new car 2009 review
Drive Car Using Water
by Zouking
1. Slow down your speed
As stated above, slow down your driving speed. Everyone knows this, but not many uses it. Well, it is a proven fact that dragging your engine will increase your fuel consumption rate. It is your choice to decide what speed you want to travel at.
2. Close Your window
Open your window when driving will increase the turbulence in your car and eventually your car will need more fuel to move. use the build in ventilation instead.
3. Plan your route
Try to plan your route before you head off. A route with more traffic light and heavy traffic is always not a good idea. The shortest route however may not be the best route if you are required to stop a lot. Try to avoid route that have a lot of high gradient slope or uneven road.
4. Top up your tank at Arco
Well, this is my personal comment. Every year, other major petrol company are making millions and millions or profit from us driver. They keep on advertising their new product such as Techron, V-power which they put in expensive stuff into them to order sell them at a higher price. In fact, all the petrol as basically the same, just that they claim their petrol have a cleaner burning combustion and better fuel efficiency. I am getting my top up at Acro at the moment and I never had any trouble with their quality.
But I sometimes do go to Chevron for a top up as well. I will put in exactly 8 gallons into my tank in order to qualify for a discount at the car wash section.
Another tips is when I traveling on the road, I try to keep note of the petrol price along the way. If I happen to see the price goes down, I may consider topping up. Some petrol station does offer a free cup of coffee with a fill up.
Manual transmission is great. I strongly encourage everyone to try using it. By using manual transmission, you can pretty much decide if you want a sport shifting at a higher rounds per minute (rpm) or a fuel efficiency shifting at a lower rpm. No matter how 'clever' the car claimed to be, it is never more clever than a human head.
If you are already driving a manual transmission now, and wish to save some fuel as well. Remember this golden rule, shift up early, shift down late.
5. Disable that cruise control
If you have the cruise control and the road is clear ahead, by all means use the cruise control. It will keep your speed constant, thus there is no need for you to accelerate. But if the road is not clear, you will be wasting a lot of fuel. Remember to use that overdrive function. It helps to keep your rpm low. Go into neutral gear when your car is standing still, to reduce and cool off the transmission.
6. Reduce your car overall weight
Another law of physics. You should try to remove those junk at the boot of your car. But keep the spare tire and other gears. You never know when you will need them.
7. Turn off your engine.
Even when your car is not moving, it is still using your fuel. If your air con is on, it takes up even more fuel. So if you know that you will be in the spot for more then 5 minutes, consider switching off the engine.

How to Make a Car That Runs on Water? : New Volvo hybrid cars 2009
How to Make a Car That Runs on Water?
by Dr.Eswararamanan
VR With gas prices soaring and the supply of fossil fuels dropping yearly, more people are looking for a solution that will allow them to keep driving their cars while also having enough money to pay their mortgage, put food on the table, and keep the lights on. Many people are looking to ethanol as the solution. Creating fuel from corn crops may seem like a great idea until one realizes the tremendous strain such a decision puts on the food supply. What good is lower priced fuel if no one can afford to buy food? Other alternatives, such as solar-powered cars, just aren’t practical. And the most fuel efficient cars on the market - the hybrids - are so expensive they don’t fit the budgets of the average family, especially in current economic conditions. What can a car owner do to keep his or her costs reasonable? The answer might be dripping from your faucet right now. Water-Powered Cars: The RealityA number of web sites are selling the promise of water-powered cars. While that may sound fantastical - like something out of a science fiction film - it isn’t. However, don’t just pour some water into your gas tank and expect your car to go. Don’t expect water to completely replace your need for gasoline either. The promises available today are converters that allow your current car to become more of a hydrogen-hybrid. You can purchase a guide which will help you make the changes to your car using very affordable equipment, usually costing less than a full tank of gas. The converter allows you to add water to your car in order to fuel it. However, it’s important to understand how the process works. Why Water Can Work as a FuelFirst, it’s not really the water that provides the energy. Water is made up of hydrogen and oxygen. When exposed to a process known as electrolysis, the hydrogen and oxygen are separated. The hydrogen can then be used to power the engine. Hydrogen is a very volatile gas. For that reason, some people believe hydrogen-powered cars are a threat on the roads. However, the gasoline we use today is just as volatile. When used with car and common sense, hydrogen is no more dangerous to drivers than any other type of fuel.Another advantage is the reduction in pollution. When fossil fuels are used by the internal combustion engine, they emit dangerous chemicals into the air. These chemicals stay in the air and end up causing environmental problems, such as acid rain. With a hydrogen-powered car, the only emission is water vapor. While more water vapor may lead to more clouds and rain, it could also reduce the carcinogens in the air and prevent further damage to the planet.Water & Your CarBesides the benefits to the environment and to your wallet, water-powered cars have another advantage. They may extend the life of your car. Research suggests that water and hydrogen are not as hard on your engine as fossil fuels so it’s likely to last longer and to have fewer problems. That also means less money spent on repairs and possibly a higher resell value. Plus, the conversion is entirely reversible. If you’re not happy with the improvement in your gas mileage, then you can always return to the old-fashioned method.

Ways to Increase Gas Mileage in Your Vehicle : New Volvo new hybrid car review
Ways to Increase Gas Mileage in Your Vehicle
by Mary Freeman
If you are shopping for a new car, or even a used one, chances are the gas mileage it gets is one of the first things you want to find out. Now, gas mileage that a vehicle can offer has become the main concern throughout the whole country with prices now reaching the $4 a gallon mark and climbing.
People are now in search of vehicles which can offer them good gas mileage (which means the distance the vehicle can cover with a gallon of gasoline). Reputed manufactures like Ford, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Honda, Volkswagen, Chevrolet and others are trying to launch cars with better gas mileage and technology that is environment friendly. In the meantime, you are stuck with trying to squeeze the best mileage out of the vehicle you currently have.
Below are some tips and suggestions on ways to increase gas mileage in your vehicle:
Determine Your Gas Mileage
You will first want to calculate your vehicles gas mileage to set a baseline in which to work from to improve your overall mileage. Fill your tank, record the odometer reading, drive around until empty, then record the odometer ready when empty. Take your car to the gas station again and now record the gallons it takes to fill up(lets say 14 gallons). You can now subtract the first odometer reading from the second and divide the result by 14. This is your current MPG.
Reduce Your Vehicle’s Excess Weight
The heavier your car is the more the engine has to work to pull the excess load. Getting rid of all unnecessary weight in your vehicle when on trips will assist to increase your mileage in the long run.
Avoid Idling the Vehicle
Idling is sometimes necessary, like at stop lights, signs, etc, but you will want to avoid all other unnecessary idling wherever possible, like in drive through lines, waiting for friends, etc. If you expect that you will not be moving for an extended period of time , turn off the ignition.
Avoid Aggressive Driving
Aggressive driving can have big effects on your cars gas mileage. Certain actions such as quick accelerations and hard breaking, and even jerky steering can have an effect on your car’s fuel efficiency, so don’t do it! Stay calm when you are driving and try to give yourself enough time to break gradually. Drive defensively not aggressively and you should be ok.
Keep Your Car Maintained
Keeping your car services and in good working order(as per manufacturers specifications) is another way to increase gas mileage. In addition to regular tune-ups you should ensure your tire pressure on all tires are as per dealer specifications. Tires which are low on air make your car work harder to accelerate which taxes your engine and therefore decreases your gas mileage. Always check your Owner’s Manual if you are unsure of your vehicle’s tire pressure requirements.
Change the Oil Regularly
Changing your oil regularly can help to improve your gas mileage. Choose the recommended grade of oil when doing this. Note: Motor oil which is advertised as Energy Conserving may be the ideal choice as it can reduce friction and assist to improve your fuel efficiency.
Replace the Air Filter Regularly
A clogged air filter can be a serious contributor to poor fuel efficiency. Clogging greatly reduces the oxygen to the engine as its using fuel. The decrease in oxygen can interfere with the correct fuel mixture which helps to reduce gas mileage. A clean air filter can also help to improve the performance of your engine.
The Right Octane
You will always want to stick with the manufacturer’s suggested gas octane rating when at the pump. If regular gas is recommended, then you will only be wasting more precious money purchasing a higher octane. Stick with what is recommended and you will be ok.
Aerodynamics
Decrease the drag on your vehicle and consequently increase your gas mileage by removing outside accessories, like ski and luggage racks if they are not required.
Other ways to increase gas mileage include keeping your air conditioning off whenever possible . This taxes the engine when on and consequently uses more gas when it is on.
Keep your windows closed whenever possible.
This decreases the drag coefficient of the vehicle which reduces natural resistance. Utilizing the tips offered above to increase your mileage will go along way to keep your vehicle driving at optimal efficiency while using the least amount of fuel necessary.

Luxury Cars â€" A Comprehensive Study: new volvo luxury car
Luxury Cars â€" A Comprehensive Study : luxury cars Auto sound car audio stereo review
by SL LIMO
Luxury and comfort is the demand of people, they want it all the way, at home, in office, and also when on move. This led to development and introduction of various luxury products and brands. Luxury cars are among one of those products, which is an obvious affirmative wish of every people since long. Every car manufacturing companies are making luxury cars to fulfill the demand of people in exclusive range of society. What makes a luxury car?The word luxury denotes a more prestigious, more expensive or more completely outfitted vehicle. However the classification of luxury cars is very much complex due to lack of a defined attributes, but most commonly a luxury car constitutes elegant, lavish, and stylish design, comfortable sitting facilities, and the price tag which is needed to own these cars. There are some common features which are almost mandatory for a luxury car, like exclusively designed interiors, leather sitting, powerful air-conditioning, latest audio-visual instruments, and polished wooden dashboards.Luxury Cars vs. Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV's)Some people think sports cars are an example of luxury car. This is true in case of some exclusive designs like Chevrolet Corvette, but not for every sports car models. All truly sports cars can't be described as a true luxury car in most of the cases. Although some Crossover Utility Vehicles (CUV's) which are wagons that look like sport utility vehicles but ride like cars, can be an example of luxury cars. There are some brands which are true Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) but can be categorized as luxury cars due to their exclusive high end prices. 'Hummer' is an example in this category.Following is a classification of SUV's based on their features and price:Entry-Level Luxury SUVs must feature a base MSRP of approximately over $38k and offer a high degree of comfort. Look into discounts. Insurance companies sometime offer discounts, find out what those are, and if you might qualify for any.
Combining your insurance over another car can help too, as well as combining it with a house and contents insurance. The more business you send their way; the more likely they are to offer discounts.
Teenage drivers - who also fall into the category of what insurance companies call "new drivers" - tend to pay the highest car insurance premiums of all. Most teens of course, are inexperienced drivers with no lengthy record of safe driving and the higher premiums are in place to cover the increased possibility of an auto accident. Statistics indicate that 16-year old drivers get into accidents almost 10 times more frequently than drivers aged between 30 and 59.
AUTHOR'S NOTE -- I hope you are enjoying this article so far. It should prove very helpful whether your actual query is about classic car insurance or any other related other related auto insurance rates, Arkansas auto insurance, cheap auto insurance quote, save on auto insurance and auto insurance quote information. Obtaining a lower rate for your car insurance starts when you still in school - you can often get a discount just by providing your most recent school report card. Most insurance companies consider students who have a grade 'B' average, to be lower risk drivers. If your school or college offer a driver's education course, take the class and let your insurance company know.
Even the make of the car can determine how much you pay for the insurance of the car. Attractive and expensive cars are more theft prone and hence make the car insurance expensive. The inherent nature of the car and the likely profile of the user can also determine the insurance amount. Volvo, a symbol of safety, is likely to be driven responsibly but a Mustang is likely to be driven by a less cautious driver. Therefore, if you are planning to buy a car in the near future, spare a thought about the insurance front too, since a low-profile car can have a lower insurance cost.
Add your teen driver to your own car insurance policy. There is no reason to purchase a completely separate car insurance policy for your teen driver when you can add him or her to your own car insurance policy. This alone will save you money, and you may even be able to get a multi-policy discount, too. Ask your own car insurance agent.
Get several quotes. For cheap insurance, compare quotes from several companies, and ask about different policy options. One more thing: take notes.
Many people looking for information about classic car insurance also looked online for the car cheap compare insurance quote, compare auto insurance rate, and even a car insure.

Volvo's City Safety System Monitors Distances in Tight Driving Situations : New Volvo new car 2009
Volvo's City Safety System Monitors Distances in Tight Driving Situations
by Rob Parker
The engineers at Volvo are no strangers to cutting edge safety systems. In 2006 the Volvo S80 could be outfitted with Collision Warning and Brake Support alerts. The systems sent visible and audible cues to the driver when the gap between his car and the one ahead tightened up too rapidly. In addition to the warnings, the brakes were prepped for use, but the driver's foot still had to do the work. Now, the Volvo XC60 crossover, set to go on sale in Europe this summer and coming to the United States in 2009, will be outfitted with City Safety, technology that will not only monitor the gap between cars and prep the brakes, but if necessary, do the braking itself.
Using an optical radar system built in to the windshield at the same level as the rear view mirror, City Safety monitors ahead of the car to a distance of approximately 20 feet (six meters). Intended for low-speed, bumper-to-bumper driving at rates of under 20 mph, the radar will pre-charge the brakes when the gap begins to get tight so the driver can respond more effectively. If, however, a collision is imminent, City Safety uses a hydraulic pump to activate the brakes on its own.
The unit's algorithm runs fifty calculations per second, constantly determining the necessary braking speed to prevent a collision, factoring in both the car's speed and the distance to the car ahead of its position in the lane. When the calculated force needed to brake exceeds a pre-determined level and the driver has not physically responded by tapping the brakes, City Safety concludes that a collision is imminent and intervenes. The system will work during the day and at night, but can be limited by weather conditions including fog, mist, heavy rain, or snow. Sensors in the windshield will alert the driver if dirt has built-up to a level that will compromise the unit's ability to scan the road ahead.
Statistics compiled by Volvo indicate that more than 75% of reported collisions actually occur when the vehicles involves are moving at speeds of less than 20 mph. The company's engineers optimistically predict that the City Safety system has the potential to reduce such low-speed collisions by as much as 50%. Although the units will be standard on the XC60 crossover, Volvo has not announced a decision on inclusion with other models or if City Safety will be offered as a standard feature or an available option when it does proliferate to those models.
The XC60, which will be built at the company's assembly facility in Ghent, Belgium, is being described by Volvo as the safest car it has ever built. The City Safety system joins a growing body of collision detection and prevention units being incorporated into 21st century vehicles, most geared toward blind spot monitoring and enhancing the driver's view and perception of the space around the car. Volvo's approach should prove particularly useful in crowded urban settings where commuters are subject to both tight driving conditions and the potential for road rage in other drivers.
